For those of us with gas powered RVs, newspaper headlines become more depressing with the passing of each day. The days of inexpensive gasoline are all but over and unless we win the lottery, many of our dream trips will be curtailed in favor of shorter trips or, even selling our RV (if you can find a buyer). There is a simple solution though ......

For the last 24 years, Aurora has helped thousands of Rvers increase the performance of their rigs with a simple but highly effective bolt on ignition system. How does 10% extra horsepower and torque sound? Hill climbing becomes much easier and countless customers have commented that this additional horsepower feels like they gained an extra gear. Second gear hills often become third gear ones and those back breaking first gear grades are no longer feared as you scoot up in second or even third. Less shifting means less wear and tear on your transmission. The best reason, though, for purchasing an Aurora system is better fuel economy!

Generally, the harder the engine works, the better the gas mileage gains with the Aurora unit. Trucks with overhead campers will most often see gains of about 15% in fuel economy. Customers towing trailers and fifth wheels report solid 20% highway gains, with Class A and C motorhomes most often gaining upwards of 25%. The reason why the Aurora ignition is so effective in increasing gas mileage is that, with 2-3 times the output energy of a stock ignition system, spark plug gap can be effectively increased to 0.060". This gap is 50 - 90% larger than most stock gaps. With a larger flame front in the cylinder, fuel is burned quicker and more completely. Its actually a simple process. Heavy RVs lose a significant amount of unburned fuel out the tailpipe, when the stock ignition system can't keep up with demand. Remember, that engine in your motorhome was originally designed for suitable performance of an empty pickup truck. The ignition components were not upgraded for the severe demands of all that extra dead weight and wind resistance. The end result is depressing gas mileage. Realistically, a motorhome or truck/fifth wheel will never see the gas mileage of an empty pickup truck but you can do significantly better, with an Aurora ignition system, and tens of thousands do every single day.

The latest generation Aurora ignition (model HV70M) is a universal fit for ANY vehicle running a distributor. It will NOT fit vehicles that utilize coil packs. It can be fitted equally well on a carbureted or fuel injected engine, 3 to 12 cylinders, using gasoline, propane or natural gas. It is also a very simple bolt on system. Installation is straight forward, with roughly 75% of our customers doing the job themselves, with ordinary hand tools. Any automotive shop can also do the work in about 1.5 hours of labor. In the simplest terms, the Aurora ignition just replaces the stock coil of the vehicle. No wires are cut, the stock coil is simply disconnected and left in place. The big advantage there (in addition to very easy installation) is, should you ever decide to sell your RV or pickup, the Aurora ignition can be removed and placed on another vehicle, so you don't lose your investment! It is a very neat ignition product, designed for ease of installation and ease of transferability between vehicles. A growing number of our customers run the ignition system on their daily driver and place it in their RV come holiday time, in a matter of just a few minutes. All you need to do is mount the ignition in each vehicle and prepare the wiring harness (s) for the proper hookups. Then, when you wish to transfer the unit, the wiring harness is unplugged from the ignition, the ignition unit simply unbolted from one vehicle, placed in the other vehicle and the other wiring harness plugged back in ..... all in a matter of less than 10 minutes! (note: this requires purchase of one additional wiring harness).

There are a number of ways to help increase gas mileage including headers, better exhaust systems, improved cams, gear splitters, etc. But how many of those will pay for themselves in a short time frame? The Aurora system is relatively inexpensive and with climbing gasoline prices, payback time decreases significantly as gas prices rise. The following table will give some idea of how quickly the Aurora system will pay for itself and after that, it is of course money in the bank with every additional mile driven.
